Hi, My wife and I are back in Minnesota for the summer but havr a winter home near Tubic. We think that Obama made a dumb move simply for political gain. But, I think that he made a big mistake. Lost our vote.

Josie not knowing the law doesn't mean it's ok to break it. There was always a solution, become a citizen just like my grandparents did.

This a a move to influence the 21 million Hispanic voters. It will have a backlash when we get a huge influx of illegal immigrants who want to have children here so they can stay. It is not a solution to the problem...just a vote ploy. He lost my vote, but who cares, I'm only one person.

I am so disappointed in our politicians. Even the ones I voted for do stupid things like this....I may vote republican for the first time ever.

Josie, nope they were good people who applied for visas and the became citizens. If that was really any concern of yours to ask. I don't believe that people should get extra priviledges just because their parents broke the law

It will have the indirect effect of attracting more illegal people...adults. They are the ones who bring the underage children who are being legalized by this law..

@DrChimera Then you are not talking about the same circumstances. They volunteerly came just like my ancestors. Yes, the kids under this law came with parents who broke the law. Are we really responsible for our parents when we are minors??

Actually, I see the good it will do for children who didn't have a choice to come here with their parents. They didn't make that choice. But it will attract more illegal people because they know thier children will eventually become legal in this country. The work vias will eald to a citizen track....not other way to go with that.

@ranch Yes, votes may be an influence with this decision. But, treating this kids fairly it is the humane thing to do.

@JosieM To claify, Anonymous...my answer was votes for Obama, not the young people getting Visas. But, I support Obama's decision whether or not votes were part of the motivation.

No, Mr. President. You were supposed to CLOSE the borders for future security. NOT grant amnesty so others will follow hoping for the same.

@DrChimera Geez...American juveniles are forgiven for their crimes and they are more aware of the crime they are committing than those brought over from Mexico as infants, children, and young teens. A work Visa at the minimum makes sense.

Of course it's amnesty. The President has just declared that a whole class of people that is here in violation of U.S. law is now, effectively, legally allowed to remain in the country. That's what amnesty is.

@DrChimera These are adults 30 years and younger. By your suggestion, they would have to return to Mexico for some time before they are allowed to apply for a Visa. Yes, these are adults under 30 who were brought over to US as infant, children, and teens.

And josie it is kinda like amnesty, since amnesty is basically like getting a pardon. Sounds kinda like this when illegal immigrants are now told that they wont be punished for breaking the law
