@CatsFangirl Miller is a one-dimensional coach. One kind of defense and not much offense, especially against the zone. Yet, he makes $5 million a year - more than half the NBA coaches. That's a lot of money for someone who's never been to a Final Four.
I did see Miller at Whole Foods a few weeks ago. He's a lot taller than he looks next to the guys! Ha

Miller brings in lots of talent, but the school has a great fan base, and will always have a built in advantage. You can stack Miller's team with lots of NBA talent and he will still never coach it to a final four, that is just a fact. I like him, but he's just not got the chops to get them over the hump. Richrod is just a plain lazy coach, who can't even keep his staff intact. I can't wait for RichRod to get blown out next year so we can start rebuilding.

@Shimmers I don't hate Miller, I just don't love him, either.
by Cats Fangirl12/3/2016 11:30:31 PM
Miller doesn't understand the basics of a zone defense or any kind of motion offense, so we get this ugly brand of basketball.

Regarding the "valuable losing experience" propaganda... Remember how last season's "losing experiences" turned out, with a team full of five- and four-star seniors? The team went nowhere in the conference and got absolutely destroyed by a mid-major opponent in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Miller's sweaty appearance made Arizona Basketball the butt of jokes until today.
Bad teams lose and there's nothing "valuable" about it.

There are 6 active final 4 coaches, Few, Petino, Krzyzewski, Self, Izzo and Ollie. That's it. Which one comes to Arizona? None. Miller will get his Final 4. I for one hopes it's at Arizona!

@Zach A team can earn it's reputation and ranking by beating a #8 ranked Gonzaga. A loss does nothing positive for the team or our chance to get into the Big Dance. If we keep experiencing adversity/losing we're in for another forgettable season and a terrible seed. I'm all for the Cats and look forward to every game, I like Coach Miller and wish them the best of luck. (I'd rather wish them skill and knowing how to win if the Truth be told)
The fact that Trier is on a road trip is a very good sign that he is close to coming back...
by Cats Fangirl12/3/2016 11:34:13 PM
Miller won't be going to any final fours, that takes skill he doesn't have. I'm not saying there should be a change, I'm saying he needs to spend time with a guy like Kerr, who will give him advice on strategy. Miller doesn't think he needs it and so we are always good and not great.
by Cat in the Hat12/3/2016 11:35:58 PM
@CatsFangirl The Star has reported that Trier would have been required to pay for his flight cost in order to attend the game today since he's not active. I'd like to know what that ticket would cost on a chartered airliner, it wouldn't be cheap.

I agree with Miller in that Zags big guy is carrying the ball every time!
by Cats Fangirl12/3/2016 11:38:30 PM
I forgot Wright, so there are 7 Final 4 active coaches.
by Nomorerichrod12/3/2016 11:38:36 PM
@SkyCoop Exactly, so why would he do that if something good isn't in the works...
by Cats Fangirl12/3/2016 11:38:40 PM
@Nomorerichrod Six active Final Four coaches you say? Wrong. Try 26.
Mike Krzyzewski Roy Williams Tom Izzo Rick Pitino Jim Boeheim John Calipari Ben Howland Larry Brown Bob Huggins Lon Kruger Thad Matta Bill Self Jay Wright Rick Barnes John Beilein Tom Crean Mike Davis Steve Fisher Jim Larranaga Gregg Marshall Kevin Ollie Kelvin Sampson Shaka Smart Tubby Smith John Thompson III Bruce Weber

You have no idea how a team will react to a loss. I'm not saying I want to lose any games. All I'm saying is, don't overreact to a loss or even dropping out of the rankings on DECEMBER 3RD! '97 team finished fifth in the Pac-10.
